Rindsrouladen - Beef Rouladen

Ingredients

4 pieces beef rouladen strips (or top round) cut in 8" x 6" strips (about 6 oz each) 4 slices bacon
4 dill pickles, thinly sliced
Mustard
Salt and pepper
1 medium onion, chopped

Directions

Lay out beef strips, brush with mustard, sprinkle with salt and pepper. Layer one slice bacon per strip, then chopped onion, then one pickle slice. Start at the narrow end and roll up the meat. Secure with toothpicks or skewers.
ln a frying pan, brown the meat on each side well. Add 1 cup hot water, cover and braise gently until done. Add more water if it gets low. When cooked, make gravy by adding flour to the leftover water in the pan.
